2006 PROGRAMS
This has been an active year, with something going on every month June-October. On June 10,
Hugh Humphreys presented a program on "Some Short Stories, followed by a presentation on July 8 by Robert Betz on "The History of Time." On August 26, Norman Dann presented a program on "Who Is Gerrit Smith?" On September 23-24, the Museum was open much of the day as part of the Fall Festival History Weekend. We concluded our programs with music by the Bullthistle Balladeers on October 7.
SPECIAL PROJECTS
If you haven't visited the Museum recently, you might be surprised when you do come. You will
find many new displays, and a major rearrangement of some of the established displays. Look for those regarding Earlville businesses, such as the Parsons Low Down Wagon Co., the C. L. Cotton Perfume and Extract Co., and those in the Smith Block. Other displays include subjects such as the Fire Department and major fires, World War II, the Regional Mastitis Lab, and Earlville schools memorabilia.
SPECIAL NEEDS
One of the special needs that your Museum has is the need for more participating members
willing to actively share in the development of the Museum. If you wish to learn more about opportunities to help, contact any of the officers, or visit one of the Board meetings. These are open to the public and convene at 1 p.m. in the Museum on the first Monday of each month, April-October, and in the Library the other months except December.
OPEN HOURS
Your Museum is usually open Saturday afternoons from 2-4 from the beginning of June through
the end of September. In case of special circumstances, such as a special program or Fall Festival Weekend, the Museum will be open at other times. Of course, the Museum will be open by appointment if certain groups or individuals so request.
2007 PROGRAMS
The following is the tentative schedule for our 2007 programs: May 12 - Bob Loomis, a direct
descendant, will talk on "The Loomis Gang"; June 16 - Norman Dann, a retired Morrisville professor, will talk about "Gerrit Smith - Abolitionist"; July 14 - Walter Lang, Jr. will talk about "Genealogy of the Oneida Community Mansion House Residents". Mr. Lang has 85 notebooks containing related genealogical information.
